The Holy Trinity Titans were in Montreal for a tournament this past weekend that was filled with ups and downs. The team finished with a bronze medal, barely falling short of a finals appearance.
The team arrived on Thursday night to get set for their Friday morning game against an east coast team from Nova Scotia. After two early goals, the team was unable to maintain the lead but managed to pull away with a 2-2 tie.
The following game, the Titans faced off against a local team from Quebec. They managed to take the first of two games played that day. Unfortunately, their afternoon game did not go so well. They just fell short of a victory leaving them with a 1-1-1 record in the tournament.
The team waited in anticipation to see if they had earned themselves a spot in the championship game. Unfortunately, they did not qualify and were placed in the bronze medal game to play the next day..
As the Titans are known for, they finished strong. They not only won the bronze but they took it with style with an 8-0 win over opponents. Player of the game awards were given to Michael Ferrari, Cam Stone as well as Michael Gironda through the duration of the tournament.
Despite the unfortunate result of the tournament, the Titan boys look ahead to finish the regular season off strong before playoffs starting next week. The team hopes to see everyone out this Friday to watch them compete against the teachers in the teacher-student game. Go Titans!

Titans Suit Up for Provincials

The Holy Trinity Business Club suited up for the DECA provincial’s competition this past weekend. After weekly information and learning sessions, 8 members of the Business Club were ready to take on the provincials competition in Toronto.

Hockey Team Brings Back Gold from the Steel City

The senior hockey boys’ great start to the season continues in Pittsburgh with a commanding championship victory, taking home yet another Gold medal for the Holy Trinity Titans.
This last weekend of November was a big one for the senior hockey boys and the Titan faithful, which saw success at its finest. The boys left for Pittsburgh bright and early Friday morning, returning late Sunday night with gold medals around their necks. Playing 5 games in total, the team went 4-1 on route to a dominating performance in the championship.
The team kicked off the tournament on Friday afternoon against Pelham, also from Ontario. After over 5 hours spent in the bus, the team looked shaky early on, but thanks to stellar goal-tending from Gironda, the team went on to salvage a 2-0 victory, a game that was critical for setting the tone for the tournament.
After enjoying an exciting game at the Consol Energy Centre, between the Pittsburgh Penguins and the Carolina Hurricanes, the team looked forward to their next match against Erindale, another team from Ontario. Unfortunately, this game did not go as planned and the team faced a wake up call early on with 4 goals against in the first period alone. The team went down early, and failed to make a comeback, falling 6-2 in the match. This game was a wake up call for the team as it brought them back to the realities of the challenges to come.
On Saturday evening, the team was set for their match against North Carolina, a game that would determine their fate in the tournament. The team prevailed with a 5-0 victory, led by strong offence from each forward unit along with another dominant performance by goalie Michael Gironda. This victory secured an appearance in the semi finals on Sunday morning.
Well rested and ready to go, the boys took to their next game strong. After a mediocre 2-0 win in their previous match against Pelham, it was the Titans' turn to prove what they were made of. They did so in impressive fashion, not only securing a victory, but dominating every aspect of the game. With the first line alone scoring a combined 5 goals, the team was looking set for the championship match.
The biggest game of the year was upon them and the team knew it. Since losing 6-2 in their previous match, the Titans knew that a challenge awaited them. The early dedication and hard work payed off as the team edged their opponents 4-0. This finals’ victory is just the beginning for what is to come from the 2014/2015 Titans senior hockey boys.

Trinity Puck Jumps to Fast Start en Route to Pittsburgh

The hockey season has officially started for the Holy Trinity Titans senior boys! It is evident early on that the Titans are on a mission, proving that last year's finals appearance was not a fluke. With dominant victories against Blakelock and Garth Webb, the Titans have demonstrated early on the expectations of senior hockey at Holy Trinity.
On Tuesday evening, the senior hockey boys kicked off their season at home against Blakelock. The boys went ahead early and never looked back with a 4-0 victory including an empty netter to seal the victory. The win was led by a great performance by the first line of Ferrari, Ferrano and Seaver, scoring three of the four goals. First year forward Montague notched the other to help the Titans start the season strong. On the back-end, goalie Michael Gironda had a great shutout performance giving the team confidence for future games.
Just one day later, the team was at it again against Garth Webb. After going down by a goal early on, the Titans came back with eight unanswered goals from players on all lines. Troy Peterson was the victim of a questionable call early on, causing him to get kicked out of the game and thus leaving the bench short a player for the rest of the game. The Titans pulled together as a team and adjusted to the unfortunate circumstances proving the power of a full team effort. The victory against Garth Webb improves the Titans’ record to 2-0, putting them on top of the league.
It is still early, but the senior hockey boys are looking to have another great season. With only five returning players, the team is still developing their knowledge of one another. The team is looking forward to their tournament in Pittsburgh this weekend, giving them a chance to prove themselves on a larger scale. This tournament gives the team an opportunity to bond as a unit and develop the much-needed player chemistry that drives any successful team. We hope the Titan boys will continue their early success to after the Christmas holidays and the rest of the season.

Senior Hockey Hits The Ice

The 2014/2015 hockey season is kicking off for hopeful prospects of the Holy Trinity
Titans senior hockey team. Led by head coach Mr. Consoli, thirty hopeful potential team
members have been put to the test early on with tryout games against Iroquois, Blyth, and Abbey
Park. Expectations are unquestionably high, following an appearance in the finals in the year
prior and an outstanding record with Mr. Consoli behind the bench.
Last season, the Holy Trinity senior hockey boys persevered in a season that seemed to
lack hope. With limited cuts made at the tryouts, Mr. Consoli was left with few options for the
team. Heading into the season, team morale was low and attitude was subpar. As the season
progressed, the team came together. A complete reversal of attitude led the team to the finals,
ultimately just falling short of a championship victory. With this new-found confidence, Holy
Trinity's hockey season kicks off again. With the regular season coming up quickly, preparation
is critical. The tryout process is valuable in ensuring the top players are picked. Mr. Consoli
has taken a unique approach in the use of statistics in order to judge each individual’s talents
on an even ground. The head coach has diligently monitored non-traditional statistics such as
turnovers, completed passes, and shots on net rather than using strictly offense-based stats such
as goals, assists, and points. This technique focuses more on the players’ dynamic abilities in
all aspects of the game, something that is difficult to analyze when simply looking at traditional
Mr. Consoli’s recruitment efforts reach far beyond the ice rink. He insists that any
individual with any hockey experience try out for the team and even scouts out high-level junior
players. Whether it is through announcements, meetings or even simply approaching team
members in the hallways or atrium, it is evident that Mr. Consoli has a strong passion for the
game and an even stronger desire to win.
Although hockey is his passion, Mr. Consoli puts a higher value on attitude and
academics. When picking the team, he takes the extra step of ensuring that members are keeping
up with their schoolwork and demonstrating appropriate classroom attitude. Holy Trinity’s
hockey system produces not only top-notch hockey players, but it ultimately creates well-
rounded individuals.
Prospects for Holy Trinity hockey are looking good. The team is looking to have a few
more exhibition games before their first tournament in Pittsburgh. They hope to be in top shape
for the season start to provide our strong Titan fan base with a season to remember. Good luck
