Weekly Sports Round-Up May 18-24

By: Izabela Pitula

Unfortunately, most of our spring sports teams finished their seasons with either missing the playoffs or losing in it. Either way, it was an exciting season with ups and downs, but all of Trinity’s athletes gave their all and played each game like it was their last. It’s a bittersweet feeling to be done a season early especially for this year’s graduates who played their last game ever in black and gold.

Junior girls’ soccer team is still playing in the regular season. On Wednesday afternoon, the girls hosted Loyola, but lost the game with a 4-3 final. Two days later, on a Friday afternoon on our backfield, HT blanked Craig Kielburger 4-0. The girls take on the Christ the King team tomorrow! Senior girls’ soccer team had their quarter final game on Tuesday against Craig Kielburger high school team which they easily beat by a score of 2-0. After an amazing win, the ladies advanced into a semifinal game where they met up with a longtime rival, the Loyola Hawks. The game didn’t go as planned and our senior girls lost 2-0. The season might be done for the senior girls, but they should be proud of their accomplishments this year. Their final record of the season is 4-0-3. Next year will be even better, but for those girls who graduate this year, a big thank you for the past couple of years!

Junior boys’ soccer team suffered their first loss of the season this week! On Wednesday, the boys hosted Loyola whom they beat 2-1. Two days later on Friday, they were hosts to Craig Kielburger. The boys played really well, but were one goal short of tying up the game in the dying minutes. The juniors take on Christ the King tomorrow afternoon. Good luck boys! The senior boys’ soccer team finished the season with a 3-2-2 record. On Tuesday, they were hosts to Bishop Reding in the quarter final game which they won by a final score of 3-2. Two days later the boys took on Christ the King which resulted in a 2-0 loss in the semifinal game. The playoff run concluded for HT’s senior soccer teams, but again it was an excellent season and the boys pulled through together. Next year will be our year and again a big thank you to the graduates for the past couple of years!

Senior boys’ baseball team played on Wednesday against a team from Milton. HT once again proved their team skills, talents and chemistry, because they won that game 10-0. The boys take on White Oaks tomorrow afternoon in their final regular season game! Go Titans!

HT’s senior girls’ rugby team suffered a season ending loss to Bishop Reding on Tuesday. Even though the girls missed the playoffs this year, they should be proud of themselves, because they weren’t afraid to get their hands dirty and always fought hard until the end. Congratulations to the graduating girls and thank you for another great season! The senior boys’ rugby team suffered two tough losses this past week. Although they lost to STA on Tuesday in the final regular season matchup, they still made their way into the playoffs with an excellent season. On Thursday, the boys began their playoff run which was a short one, because of their loss that day to T.A. Blakelock. It might’ve been a short run but the season was very good overall. Again congratulations to the entire team and coaching staff on another great season and a big thank you to the graduating boys!

Senior girls’ fastpitch team played two games this week. On Tuesday, the girls took on Christ the King but lost 6-4. Two days later, they played Garth Webb and won 14-2. HT will host Christ the King this Wednesday at 3:30pm so c’mon out and support your Titans!

HT’s boys’ lacrosse team will play two games tomorrow. The first one is in the morning against Loyola and the other one is against Corpus in the afternoon. Good luck HT!
