This past Thursday, the Titans senior boys basketball team went up against Corpus Christi. Nerves were high as the Titans faced the number 1 team in Halton. The first quarter started off slow as the teams were settling. Both teams were struggling to get the ball into the hoop, resulting in a lot of in-and-outs. Ignas Brazdeikis scored 9 out of the 11 points in the first quarter, which ended off with a buzzer beater from Nathan Rourke.
The second quarter brought out more intensity. There were a lot of back-and-forth shots between Corpus and HT, but it ended up with Holy Trinity leading at halftime, 22-21. As the game was coming closer to the end, the drive to win only became stronger. Lucas Orlita scored double 3-pointers which put Holy Trinity in the lead, but not for long. Corpus Christi soon caught up and tied the score. HT fought to win the game in the last quarter but it just wasn’t enough. Corpus Christi won, 48-40. Holy Trinity has a chance to redeem themselves with the upcoming Halton Finals this month. If they continue to work hard and push themselves, they are sure to win against Corpus Christi and win the Halton Finals. GO HT!
