Titan Girls Go For Gold

By: Erin McMurray

The varsity softball team had an amazing day at their annual PWSA tournament in Brampton on Monday. They started out early, getting on the field for their first game at 9 o’clock.

Playing teams from Woodstock and Whitby, they cruised through their first two games of the morning undefeated. Tied for wins and only one run short of first place, they continued on to play more games in the second place position.

The girls made amazing plays all throughout the day. Hitting home runs, catching pop flies, diving back to the base, and sliding into home happened again and again for the Titans, putting them ahead of all the other teams.

The Titans continued on undefeated, playing two more games -one of which was against Georgetown rival Christ the King. After winning all day, the Titans finally advanced to the gold medal game against Chatham.

Tired but not intimidated, the Titans started their final game of the day: black and gold versus neon yellow. The game started off close in runs, making both sides unsure of the outcome. More innings passed and the Titans started to score a few more runs. They held their lead for the rest of the game, finishing off with a win of 6-2.

The team accepted their gold medals in a small ceremony and brought home another victory for the Titans!
