For the first week in a long time, this past week was not too busy. The only winter teams that still fought in playoffs were HT’s curling team and senior boys’ hockey team. Special congratulations go to the midget boys' basketball team who finished their season with a Halton championship! On Thursday, we celebrated all of our winter sports teams at the school pep rally.
The hockey boys faced two teams on Monday with both resulted in a win. First, they played Notre Dame where they outscored them 9-2 and then gained another win with a close score of 3-2 against Christ the King. These two games were noted in the preliminary round. Coming out victorious, the Titans qualified for the quarterfinals to be played on Wednesday against Abbey Park. Unfortunately, we lost that game with only a one goal difference. This loss ended they boys’ run in the playoffs this year. Although the seniors exited the playoffs early, they had an unbelievable season with 8 wins and 3 losses and many victorious tournaments throughout the year. Thank you boys for an exciting time and good luck to those who will represent HT in hockey next year!
Also in action on Monday and Wednesday of this week were the Titans curlers. Two of HT's three teams qualified for the playoffs. After both HT1 and HT2 won their round of 16 match-ups on Monday, they were back at it again on Wednesday for the quarterfinals. HT1 is the lone team that remains and they will go for the Halton championship this week. The team is looking for support at the Oakville Curling Club for their final games of the season as they hope to bring home a banner.
Our school ski & snowboard team also finished their year this week with the HT Class. Check out more coverage on the blog wrapping up their season.
A huge congratulations goes to the midget boys who won a Halton championship on Tuesday. The boys took on Craig Kielburger Secondary School at Sheridan College and came away winners by a 9 point margin. Andrew Deligero led the charge, dropping 18 points on route to the win. Way to go, boys!
