Guest Speaker Hands Out Cash to Students

By: Adrian Flaherty

The very hilarious stand up comedian James Cunningham took center stage on Friday to bring the ‘Funny Money’ presentation to Holy Trinity. James taught students about finance and how it plays a significant role in the budgeting choices we make. Cunningham introduced three important lessons in this very educational and entertaining presentation: know your flow, control what you owe, and invest some dough.

Throughout the presentation, James Cunningham asked questions regarding the lessons he taught, and whoever got the correct answer received a dollar. Those who volunteered in demonstrations would receive five dollars. He also cracked plenty of jokes about finance and engaged the audience, which is what made the presentation so enjoyable.

To conclude the presentation, James had volunteers come to the stage and have a “financial” dance-off. James taught the volunteers three dance moves, including “swiping the Visa”, “grandma robbing the bank”, and “income expenses”. The volunteers had to perform these dance moves along with five seconds of freestyle dance moves. The talented winner of the dance-off was Matthew Goulart, who won fifty dollars! The runner-ups were Jiwoo Heo, Khalil Olasimbo, and Adam Czach (Magic Mike), who each won five dollars.

In conclusion, the ‘Funny Money’ presentation taught a valuable lesson on finance, while at the same time, brought a bunch of laughter and fun to Holy Trinity.
