On Sunday, November 30th, Holy Trinity’s Team Unbreakable running group participated in the Bold and Cold 5K run. This year, our school hosted the run. Students arrived at Holy Trinity early in the morning and met up with their teams for a stretch and group cheer before embracing the cold.
Team Unbreakable’s mission is to help increase awareness by decreasing the stigma surrounding mental illness. This is also a yearly event sponsored by Cameron-Helps.
As soon as the horn blew, the runners were off! Runners ran 2.5k, and looped back to complete the other half. Luckily for the runners, the weather was on their side, with no snow or rain to slow them down. When runners crossed the finish line, they were awarded with a beautiful Bold and Cold medal. As the run was complete, students, teachers and parents who ran along, gathered in the cafeteria for a hearty breakfast, which included breakfast sandwiches, Timbits, a fruit platter to choose from, and hot chocolate, water or coffee to drink. The smiles on the participants’ faces proved that they had a good time supporting the cause.
Team Unbreakable still meets every Tuesday and Friday after school in room 202 to prepare and run for the next event. Details coming soon! Everyone is welcome!
