Team Unbreakable Training to Hit the Big Road

By: Katarina Brkic

Another school year has begun and Team Unbreakable is already in full gear preparing

for the next 5 km run. Holy Trinity’s Team Unbreakable has some great team leaders to coach

and prepare us for the upcoming event, namely Mrs. Rutkowski and back again with us this

year, Ms. Sporcic. The first practice was held on Tuesday, September 23rd .

Team Unbreakable’s mission is to increase awareness by decreasing the stigma

surrounding mental illness. This is a yearly event sponsored by CameronHelps and is in memory

of David Harris’ son Cameron, who took his own life on February 14th, 2005.

Shannon Charters, a 16 year old student who is a part of Team Unbreakable, shared her

thoughts on what it’s like to run with the team. She expressed that, “I run so I’m out of my house

and outside doing something worthwhile with my time. It keeps me in shape while at the same

time; I know I’m running for a great cause.” There is so much positive energy and the group is

full of encouraging people that are full of support.

Everyone is welcome to join and I am personally very proud to be a part of such a terrific

team. Hope to see a great number of new faces at the upcoming practices. Remember HT; have a

great day, and don’t forget to treat everyone with equity, dignity and respect!
