As summer is quickly approaching and school is coming to an end, I know that campfires are becoming more frequent, which calls for a tasty treat to enjoy with it. Here’s a sweet and tasty recipe that my family and I love to make during summer campfires, and it is very easy to make!
This recipe serves 16 and takes roughly 30 minutes to prepare.
Ingredients:
- 1/2 tsp of water
- 1/2 tsp of baking soda
- 1/2 cup of shortening
- 1/3 cup of brown sugar
- 1/3 cup of granulated sugar
- 1/2 tsp of vanilla
- 1 egg
- 1/2 tsp of salt
- 1/2 cup of flour
- 1/2 cups of graham cracker crumbs
- 1 cup of mini Hershey Kisses
- 1 cup of mini marshmallows
Instructions:
- Preheat your oven to 350 degrees
- Mix the baking soda with water. When blended, leave it off to the side temporarily
- Blend the shortening, granulated sugar and brown sugar together
- Take the baking soda and water mix from before, and add a teaspoon of vanilla and an egg
- While blending this mix together, slowly add flour, graham cracker crumbs and salt and beat it together
- Add 1/2 cup of the Hershey Kisses into the mix
- Grease an 8 inch square pan. When done, spread the mix onto the pan
- Put the pan into the oven at 350 degrees Fahrenheit for 15-20 minutes
- When done, remove the pan from the oven
- Sprinkle the cup of mini marshmallows and 1/2 a cup of Hershey Kisses onto the bars
- Put the pan back into the oven for 1-2 minutes to melt the marshmallows and the kisses
