Weekly Sports Round-Up Feb. 16-22

By: Izabela Pitula
Another eventful week has passed by. Our winter sports teams have taken the court or the ice by storm and fought for the playoff run. Midget boys’ basketball team played their first playoff game this season and won it. On Tuesday at Sheridan College, they will face Craig Kielburger's team in a playoff final. Best of luck to our rookies as they fight to be crowned Halton Champions and bring the victorious banner home. Whether it's a win or a loss, we are proud of you, Titans! HT’s junior boys’ basketball team, who were undefeated in the regular season, played Christ the King last week in a quarterfinal game which resulted in a win with a very high score. They faced Bishop Reding this past Thursday in a semi final game. Unfortunately, the boys lost that game with the score of 71-64. Throughout the season, the boys left their hearts out on the court. They trained each and every day in order to bond, gain power and chemistry. The team played well in a Thursday loss, but the luck wasn’t there. Congratulations to the team and the coaches on a phenomenal season and better luck next year! The senior boys’ basketball team also ended their playoff run also in a loss to Bishop Reding. Just like the juniors, the seniors had an amazing season and playoff run. Heads up boys, next year will be our year!

On Thursday, the senior boys’ hockey team played their last regular season game as they beat the Craig Kielburger team with a score of 7-5. The boys were joined by members of the senior girls' team to play in the annual staff-student charity hockey game. The boys will start the playoff run this week starting tomorrow when they face Notre Dame in the morning in the preliminary round. Good luck Titans, may the puck be in your favour!

On Wednesday, our junior girls’ volleyball team played in the semi-final game against Georgetown, but unfortunately the girls lost that game with 2-0 in sets. It is a sad ending to the volleyball year, but good luck to our teams next year!

Unfortunately, most of our winter sports teams didn’t make it far in the playoffs, but it’s not the end of the world. Junior & senior boys’ basketball teams and junior girls’ volleyball team should be proud of themselves for their achievements this year as well as they must know that they represented Holy Trinity with pride and dignity. Thank you, Titans! Even though these teams are out of the playoff picture, let's not forget about our midget boys’ basketball team as they play in the playoff final this week and our hockey boys entering the playoffs. Come on out HT and support your fellow peers! Lets celebrate the outcomes together!!!

As always, LETS GO TITANS!!!
